Fiji look for revenge against france in World Cup clash
Nigeria’s first game as a member of the World Cup, against France in Nagano on 28 July 2014, is crucial to the island nation’s national football identity.
While the game can also mark the end of their international campaign, it will also be a chance for Fiji to mark the 20th anniversary of a landmark victory for their country over the French – who, the next day, were defeated by Brazil in the World Cup quarter-final.
After winning the first of their five games away from home over France, Fiji made quick progress to gain a six-point aggregate lead as they moved a step closer to winning back a World Cup.
By the end of the match, Fiji looked almost unstoppable, yet their final moments were marked with a late penalty shootout goal that saw France’s Cesar Azpilicueta score the equaliser.

Dale Finucane, who scored for Fiji last summer at home to France, has joined New Zealand on loan
Fiji head coach Steve Hansen has admitted that the 광주출장마사지23-year-old Finucane has been in camp since January to rejoin his Fiji club, Fiji Warriors.
Finucane scored three tries in seven appearances last season and was among the players selected to New Zealand’s camp of 23 in Fiji last summer.
New Zealand head coach Steve Hansen said he and Finucane have spoken extensively to each other during the past few weeks.
“He was the third player I wanted back at Fiji, so we spoke at length about his experiences and the things he had put him through to improve as a player,” Hansen told the New Zealand Herald.
“We also spoke about how good of a player we are for him and what we are excited for him in the future.”
